McLeod Software is currently looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer for our Headquarters in Birmingham, AL.

IQ Department Summary and Product Offerings:

McLeod Software is the leading provider of Transportation Management Software for the Transportation industry.

McLeod IQ is McLeod Software’s Business Intelligence Reporting offering for customers wanting to extend their base reporting options and to gain further insight into their business.

The McLeod IQ team handles Development, Implementation, Support and Training of both McLeod IQ and Cloud IQ products. We provide customers an opportunity to also integrate 3^rd party data into their reporting solution for more unified and robust analytics.

McLeod IQ is a Tabular data model built using transactional SQL replication that publishes requested articles into a subscribing Data Warehouse. Using a star schema and SQL Server Analysis Services we create the tabular data model that is then accessed by users primarily using Microsoft Power BI and Excel.

Cloud IQ is our newest offering of a Microsoft Azure based Power BI model solution which allows McLeod customers to utilize Analytics as a Service at a monthly subscription fee.

Job Overview:

Product development of new features for both McLeod IQ and Cloud IQ product offerings which could consist of:
o Creating/updating Power BI and Analysis Services data models (SSDT)
o Creating/updating Stored Procedures for loading Dims/Facts

Investigation and resolution of product defects
o Troubleshooting SQL queries
o Using SSDT or Dax Studio to investigate discrepancies
Development of patch releases to address product defects
Custom development for specific customer requests
o Works with BI Specialists and BI Analysts on feasibility of custom requests
o Estimating custom efforts based on specifications

Experience/Skills Required:

Firm grasp of BI methodologies and will have had experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS).
Relational databases
T-SQL and Dynamic SQL
Data Warehouse and Data Mart solution design (Star Schema)
Tabular data modeling
Document investigation and findings for product defects and issues
Visual studio/SSDT
Experience with Microsoft BI stack, particularly SSIS and SSAS
SQL Server Management Studio
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Power BI
Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
Experience in creating Stored Procedures and ETL
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Investigation, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities to develop insightful conclusions and generate solutions
5+ years’ Business Intelligence exposure or experience
5+ years’ experience with SQL (T-SQL) experience
The right individual will possess experience in all stages of BI project work (requirements and logical design, physical design, implementation, testing and deployment).

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Data Analytics related degree preferred)
