McLeod Software is seeking an EDI Support Specialist for our headquarters in Birmingham, AL.

The EDI Support Specialist will support customer installations and upgrades of the McLeod EDI product. Tasks will include working the EDI support queue, taking support calls, and working with EDI trading partners. The Support Specialist will troubleshoot EDI issues and work with the EDI programmers and EDI coordinators as necessary to resolve issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers (by phone, web or on-site at customer location) on McLeod EDI Software.
  • Research and troubleshoot McLeod technical (hardware, software) issues either by reviewing manuals, discussing with other staff or contacting 3rd party sources.
  • Review and close all requests and projects as they are put into production and advises the EDI Manager for final sales order billing.
  • Work with customers to obtain specifications and requirements for delivery of EDI transaction set(s).
  • Review and document (in approved functional requirement document) modification requirements and create customer work order for approval and tracking.
  • Assist EDI Programmers and other EDI Coordinators as needed.
  • Work on designated special projects and training classes.
  • Deliver prompt communication and follow-up via phone or email on pending issues.
  • Assist customers at annual McLeod Software User’s Conference.
  • Continue improvement of technical knowledge and ability.


  • Two or more years of experience providing customers technical (hardware, software) support.
  • Knowledge of and/or work experience with EDI.
  • Experience with and ability to formulate SQL Statements.
  • Experience with Windows and UNIX.
  • Experience training customers or end users in the use of software.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Ability to communicate technical information coherently, both verbally and in writing, to customers with various levels of education.
  • Ability to manage (plan, organize, accomplish and follow up) one’s own work.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain a friendly attitude with others (customers and other employees) regardless of situation.


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
